What is the Play Rx Circle?

The Play Rx Circle is a practice community for adults who already understand the value of creativity and play, but don’t have a place to actually live it. This is not about producing a product or learning arts skills. It’s about routine participation in creative experimentation with other people in ways that develop playfulness, resiliency, and vitality.

It's time for a revolution:

Modern adult life leaves very little room for creativity and play. Most adults spend their days:

  • managing responsibilities
  • optimizing productivity
  • consuming meaningless entertainment to recover

Over time, this pattern erodes the sense of being fully alive. The result is knowing you want something more but not having a clear or practical way to access it.

The Play Rx Circle offers a structured, supportive space where adults regularly engage creative play with others, rebuild creative vitality, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that thrive through experimentation and shared experience.

This is for People Who:

  • feel capable of more than their current life allows

  • already value creativity, play, or the arts and want to engage them more directly

  • are willing to take risks and try things to find their personal edge

  • can take responsibility for their own experiences

Not for People Who:

  • demand constant reassurance from the group or facilitator

  • would rather observe than participate

  • are highly anxious about being seen playing or taking risks

  • are currently in crisis who need clinical mental health support

How It Works:

  • Live Sessions

We meet live every other week on Saturday 11am PST for 2 hours on Zoom.

Each session generally follows this structure:

    • Drop-in
    • Warm-up
    • Creative play challenge
    • Integration

The challenges rotate across these creative modalities: writing, visual art, improv, music, movement, problem solving, and relational play. You do not need skills in any modality to participate fully.

As a bonus, occasional live sessions will include guest artists and facilitators whose work intersects creativity, play, and practice.

For anyone who cannot make the live call, there will be a recording.

  • Off-Week Play Challenges

On alternating weeks, members receive structured challenges designed to be completed solo or with others in the community. Less like homework, more like integration.

  • Community Hub and Resources

A shared space for social chats, reflection, and continuation between sessions.

There will also be a section of the hub dedicated to "Play Labs" where members are invited to self-organize into interest-led groups: writing labs, visual arts labs, performance labs, or other experimental formats that emerge from shared curiosity.

The hub also includes an extensive creative play library of resources I've spent years gathering available for your use asyncronously.
